Colossians 1:18,

"And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy."

Metro Praise started February 2005 in the house of Joe and Nancy Wyrostek with a group of new believers. In March of 2005 Metro Praise rented Old Irving Park Methodist church and had its first service with 10 people. The church continued to meet there on Sunday's at 7pm and held Wednesday Bible studies in Joe and Nancy's house.

Metro Praise grew with the addition of new disciples over the next 8 months as God poured out His Spirit in the services. Because of the need to have a permanent building Metro Praise joined together with a local Latino church and signed a lease for their own building at 5405 W. Diversey in October of 2005. Metro Praise then began to do outreaches and events in the community and surrounding parks.

Afterward Metro Praise started a youth group called "Elevate" in November 2005 with 6 students and began to meet on Fridays at 7:30pm. In January 2007 Metro Praise took full possession of the church and began to have its first morning services. During the summer of 2007 Metro Praise adopted a block called Ohio Park on the West Side of Chicago and began reaching out to the community in the surrounding areas.

By the fall of 2008 Metro Praise began to host the School of Urban Missions (SUM), a fully accredited Spirit-filled Bible college, in its church for students to be raised up into fulltime ministry. During the winter of 2008 and beginning of 2009 Metro Praise began to go international by covering churches in different nations and helping them start new churches.

Then during the summer of 2010 Metro Praise moved into its current "Irving Park" location at 4323 W. Irving Park. There over the next year God began to grow the church rapidly with over 500 in attendance for the two Easter services, the overseeing of over 200 Metro Praises worldwide, and large outreaches to the city of Chicago. From the growth over 45 new disciples were baptized!

After much prayer the "Irving Park" campus took a step of faith to start a second Metro Praise campus in the world famous Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. Therefore, the new Wicker Park campus was birthed in September 2011. Currently, as of Jan. 2012, the Wicker Park campus is renting a "cafe' style" storefront at 1635 N. Ashland Ave. and is continuing to grow through evangelism and discipleship. It is the prayer of Metro Praise to continue to grow at both campuses and reach the goal of 100,000 disciples in Chicago with 50 churches and 500 around the world!
